
About This Program
This benchmarking program was started by SRP in the 1990’s and is designed for those who manage facilities for energy utility companies. The program is endorsed by the Utilities Council of IFMA.

The Utilities Council is the oldest vertical industry group within IFMA and provides networking for facility managers who work in the utility industry. There are typically two Council meetings per year and Facility Issues recommends all utility industry facility managers participate in these in addition to the benchmarking
Who are the Participants?
All energy, communications, water, and sewer utilities are welcome to participate in this benchmarking program. Many major US and CA utilities have participated since the group started.
The following leading organizations are some who have participated consistently over the program’s 30 years:

- Duke Energy
- Entergy
- Niagara Mohawk/National Grid
- Northeast Utilities/Eversource
- SRP
- Tennessee Valley Authority

What Is Included in the Utility
Facility Benchmarking Program?

The utility facility benchmarking report compares a range of facility metrics – data categories include:
- Operating costs (all types)
- Energy use (all types)
- Sustainability metrics
- Staffing
- Asset condition (FCI)
- Practices & Technology
- and more.
Schedule
One part of the benchmarking program is about the data: getting started, entry, compile, and reporting.
Another part of the program includes meetings to network, shared practices, provide feedback and discuss results.
