Utility Facility Shared Practice Meeting

This month’s shared practice discussion was a control room best practices presentation provided by Brandon Scroggs, a 10-year subject matter expert at Constant Technologies, Inc.  The session gave tips for your modernizing a control room project. 
Critical network control rooms are among the most complex and consequential spaces managed by utility facility organizations. They may support transmission, distribution, generation, IT, telecommunications, outage response, or physical-security functions. Their performance depends on a combination of specialized operating technology, communications, security, environmental conditions, room configuration, operator work practices, and human factors. Unlike the surrounding control-center facility, the control room may require significant refreshes as technology, staffing, operating practices, cybersecurity requirements, and system complexity change.
