Although helpful as a general reference, benchmarking results can be valuable when they are used to support a real decision: explaining performance to leadership, defending a budget request, setting improvement priorities, evaluating service levels, or developing a practical action plan.
This month’s shared practice meeting was a discussion on the application of benchmarking data, especially how cultural facility managers present results to decision makers and translate findings into performance-improvement plans.
This matters now because facility leaders are being asked to make costs, risks, sustainability commitments, and asset investment more visible and defensible. The goal of the session is to share practical examples, common pitfalls, and useful approaches for moving from data → interpretation → decision → action.
