Replacing a roof or upgrading HVAC is hard enough. Doing it while dispatch keeps running, crews keep rolling, and a control center stays online around the clock is a different challenge.
This month, RE Management Solutions (REMS), a Baltimore-based owner’s representative and project management firm serving utility clients, will lead a working session on what it really means to be “project ready”: construction ready and operationally ready. The session is built around three questions:
- Were we ready before we started?
- Are we in control while the work is underway?
- Did we receive a facility our operators can actually run?
We’ll also look at how project delivery models affect capacity. Whether your projects are managed by facility staff, an internal PM group, or an outsourced project manager, the readiness process is the same. What changes is how much of your capital plan your team can take on.
Come ready to compare notes with peers on common failure modes and the trade-offs between construction speed and operational continuity. Join us to share your perspectives and hear how other utilities are addressing these challenges. All utility staff and business partners are welcome to participate.
Please take the short shared practice survey on this topic – it will only take a few minutes and your input is greatly appreciated. Upon completion you will go to the meeting registration form (and all participants get the survey results whether they can attend the meeting or not).
