Facility condition assessments are a familiar concept in facilities management, but practice varies widely among companies and even in our benchmarking group. Some organizations prepare formal assessments on a set cycle, some do them only for selected sites or funding requests, and others do not really use them. This month’s shared-practice discussion was a discussion of what participants actually do today and how they report this for benchmarking.  What is included in their FCA/FCI, how do they rate and prioritize deficiencies, and how do they convert findings into a capital maintenance or renewal program.
