Workshop Agenda:
- Overview & Introductions – Overview of the workshop objectives and participant introductions.
- Assembling Your Data with Power Query – Introduction to using the Power Query function in Excel to assemble data from various sources and restructure it.
- Shaping Data with Power Query – Review of key functions of Power Query to transform and “clean” source data to be useful for reporting or integration with other data.
- Hands-on: Setup a Data Collection Template – You will create your own Excel data collection template for your selected data file during this workshop.
Workshop Organization and Requirements
This workshop will be a two hour Zoom meeting. The group size is limited to allow for sufficient question/answer with participants.
Prerequisites:
Attendees should meet the following:
- Staff member of an internal facilities group
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Familiar with your selected data.
- Have a copy of one facility source data file to use during the workshop (a live connection to the source data system is ok if you have an account with access to the data tables). Suggested data files would be those with space data, costs, work orders, occupancy, utilities, etc.
- Have a computer with licensed Microsoft Excel (2019 or newer, preferably Office 365, Mac’s not likely to work).
- 2 monitors suggested if possible (one for Zoom and one for your data file)
